Numerous volunteer opportunities are posted to the website at http://www.harriscountycitizencorps.com/trainingopps.asp.  Below are the three latest requests.

  • UPCOMING OILED WILDLIFE TRAINING WORKSHOP
Wildlife Response Services, LLC is making final preparations for our second oiled wildlife training workshop of 2010 on the Texas Gulf Coast! This workshop is made possible through a grant provided by the Texas General Land Office, Oil Spill Prevention & Response Division, and the generosity of the staff at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, located at 2111 West Park Avenue in Orange, Texas, where we will hold the training on March 15, 2010. Participants should arrive
between 8:30-9:00 for registration and a light breakfast; welcoming remarks begin at 9:00, and the training is scheduled to conclude by 4:00. The team members of Wildlife Response Service, LLC are dedicated to the care, protection, and well-being of the wildlife that are a part of the Gulf Coast region. Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is located on Adams Bayou in far southeast Texas and in close proximity to the Beaumont and Port Arthur ship channels. With that in mind, what better venue than Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center to continue building our local base of volunteers to assist our responders in the event of an incident impacting wildlife. Topics covered during the workshop are outlined on the agenda (Acrobat pdf document). As noted on this document, you will be
introduced to a host of experts in the fields of animal care and oil spill response. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and there is no fee required for attending the training. Please register as soon as possible as registration is limited to thirty attendees. You can register via e-mail at rhonda.murgatroyd@wildliferesponse.net. Directions to Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center are here (Acrobat pdf document). You may reach Rhonda Murgatroyd at  713-705-5897  713-705-5897 if you have further questions.
